Road Science: Trends in Roller- Compacted Concrete
Roller-compacted concrete (RCC) is an ultra-tough, zero-slump concrete with compressive strengths greater than 4,000 psi. It’s placed with robust Eurostyle asphalt pavers to form a lower-cost, non-reinforced concrete pavement that is too rough for high-performance pavements, but appropriate for truck parking areas, recycling centers, dams and other mass concrete placements, and even low-volume city streets. It’s very similar to cement-treated base (CTB), which forms an ultra-strong foundation for high-level highways like interstates. We’ll look at RCC and CTB, suggest where they’re appropriate, and describe what’s needed for a successful, profitable placement.

QuickData: Aerial Lifts
In this one-page summary of aerial lift purchase trends from Randall-Reilly’s TopBid and EDA divisions, we’ll look at average auction prices for the top 10 models of aerial lifts sold at auction, plus examine new and used financed equipment sales trends.

What's on the site:

Foliage: Roses
Any landscaper who provides more than lawn-care services had better know a thing or two about roses. When clients share their wish-lists, the chances are high that roses will be on there somewhere. They’re simply one of the most popular garden plants in the world. They can be grown in borders, containers, over arches, pergolas, even as groundcover. They also live a long time if they’re cared for properly. With the time to plant them (late autumn) approaching, we’ll introduce readers to some of the latest and most beautiful varieties. We’ll also share some reminders on proper care and any updates on diseases affecting U.S. growers.

Lawn Care: Top Myths
Unfortunately, there’s no of land care myths, even at the professional landscaper level. For example, landscapers that figure fertilizer is fertilizer (It’s gotta be good for the grass, right?) could use a gentle reminder that those three numbers on the bag really are important. Exploding the myths is a great opportunity to hit the fundamentals.

Trucks: 2016 Models
Landscapers love their trucks. This feature will showcase the most popular new models, and we’ll look at features and benefits, particularly specs (such as load and towing capacity) of particular interest to landscapers.

Safety Watch: Compact Equipment
Technological developments in recent years have been driven as much by the goal of improved safety as machine reliability or longevity. Continuing R&D that aims to produce more powerful equipment is sure to devote equal time to safety.

Roundup: GIE+EXPO Preview
This will be one of many preview stories leading up to GIE. In the “Roundup,” we’ll try to hit the high points about what the event has to offer – education and training, product introductions and the wealth of networking opportunities.
